Poker Most Popular Game At The Online CasinoMarch 7, 2005 Online poker Casino Reports has been documenting the rising trend in online casino poker and it has certainly taken first place in terms when it comes to the most popular games you can find at the online casinos. There are many contributing factors to the rise in popularity of online casino poker. For starters it has always been an immensely popular game both at the online casino and the land based casino. It is also played quite adamantly in private circles as well. Despite the fact that poker has been, traditionally, a popular casino game, it certainly has had a recent boost of attention. It´s is for certain that your favorite online casino offers poker to its players. Any online casinos that don´t offer poker would be losing out on a huge chink of business. Increased media coverage of high-stakes poker tournaments such as the 2003 World Series of Poker and various weekly tournaments on the World Poker Tour have also led to the rising popularity of online casino poker. The fact that poker is now on television and has gained high ratings only further indicates the game´s popularity. When Fox Sports Net began airing episodes of its “Late Night Poker” program it also indicated that poker was being grouped into the sports category as well as the casino gaming category. This shift has also added to the increased hype surrounding online casino poker games. So far poker is the only casino game to make this lead into the world of televised sports. The other aspect of poker that has increased its popularity is the tournaments. The tournament format covered by all of these entities is Texas No Limit Hold´em. This particular version of poker is more confrontational and explosive than standard poker and therefore it makes for a good competition. The World Series of Poker is just another example of one of the key factors behind the increase in popularity of online casino poker. From online casinos to devoted poker rooms, you can find just about every version of poker at your favorite online casino. Check out some of the televised poker games and tournaments in order to pick up some valuable poker tips and strategies.

Learn to play free online texas holdem poker online
Learn to play free online texas holdem poker online In Texas Hold'em Poker, position is an important aspect of the holdem game, so one of the players is designated as the "dealer" with a flat round disk, or "button," with "Dealer" imprinted on it. The button moves clockwise from player to player at the beginning of each hand. Player with the dealer button in front of him is said to be "on the button," which means that person is in last position. That player, if he decides to stay in the game, is the last one to make any betting decision. The player to the immediate left of the dealer is in the "small blind" position, the person to that player's left is in the "big blind." Before any cards are dealt, these two players place their bets. Those two bets combined are the "ante" and are considered seed money to get the pot started. At this point, only two players are betting. To Start with the small blind, one card is dealt with everyone face down and then a second card is taken. Each player looks at the two "hole" cards and decides if they're good enough to play the game or if they're so bad that he has to "fold" the cards. The one to the immediate left of the big blind is the player who is "under the gun." He's the one that starts the betting decisions, while the big blind is the last to act. This is the only time that the player on the button doesn't act last. The player who is under the gun has to decide to fold or to call or to raise. If he folds, then he discards the two cards face down, pushing or tossing them toward the house dealer. If the player decides to bet, then he "calls the big blind" by matching the ante that the big blind has already posted.

Practicing Poker Online
There is an ongoing debate about the value of practicing poker by playing online at many of the free online poker sites. The main reason cited to bolster the argument is "Nothing Ventured - Nothing Gained". The free play poker sites give each player a certain amount of money to play with. Some sites will replenish a player's bankroll as soon as they go broke, while others will make them wait a day before they are granted more money. Either way since a player has no fear of ever going broke they will often play with an any two-card mentality for stating hands. Once in a hand they will play "no Fold'em Hold'em" and call each hand to the river. If they go broke they will just wait for their next stack of cyber-chips and continue playing. I agree that many of the online players in the free poker sites are bad players and it can lead to the deterioration of a player's game if they start emulating the other players. Players have a tendency to lower their standards when they are playing for fun. If a new player sees this going on they may adopt a similar playing style, which will be fatal once, they sit down in a live game. My friend John D coined the term "Plunger" to describe this type of player. Even with the Plungers in the game I do believe that there is something to be gained from practicing online. MechanicsIf you are new to Texas Hold'em you can learn the mechanics of the game while playing online. Watching and participating in a game will make you comfortable with the procedures and protocol of the game. When you sit down at a live table you will have an idea what is happening at the table. DisciplineDiscipline is one of the most important traits you will need to be a winning player. You can practice discipline by adopting a real game approach to your online session. When I started practicing online I made up my mind that I would treat my cyber bankroll just the same as my real one. Folding hand after hand can get boring especially after seeing other players winning with pure trash hands but it takes discipline not to lower my standards and stoop to their levels of play. Reading The BoardLearning to read the board is another skill that can be practiced when you play online. You will have plenty of opportunity to do this as many times the play online is faster than it is in a live game. Playing Poker Online - Safety Concerns
One of my biggest concerns about free online poker was the idea of collusion among the players. Online players have numerous ways to communicate with each other via ICQ instant messenger or even the telephone. In fact with a cable router you could actually or multiple phone lines you could have two people playing side by side in the same room. But collusion happens in brick and mortar card rooms as well. I ran into an instance a couple years back on the Vegas Strip that I wrote about in my book. In a cardroom it is not often easy to prove when it happens. Once the dealer mucks the cards the hand is over and it is hard to prove anything went on. This is not the case however when you are playing online. If you even suspect that some players are colluding with each other all you have to do is contact customer support and they will investigate. The operators of the online sites have a recorded history of all hands that have been played by each and every player. Many of the sites utilize special software programs to track the betting patterns of players suspected of collusion. They can search back over every hand played by the parties involved and look for anything out of the ordinary. With the new technology and vast improvements with encryption and security the chance of someone hacking is not really an issue. Nobody can see your cards as you ply except you. The online Poker sites use the same technology that is used by with online banks and other financial sites. If you are not worried about banking or trading stocks online, you shouldn’t be concerned playing low limit poker either. Do Your Own Research If you want to try online Poker I would suggest you pick a site that offers free games as well as money games. Download their software and play for a while to make sure you like the interface and the way the software play and the graphics look. Observe some of their money games. See if they offer enough tables for the limits you want to play. You may end up trying a few different sites and if you are like a lot of players you may decided to play on several different sites. If you are a interested I tournaments, you might want to see if the site offers Freeroll tournaments that will give you an opportunity to win some real money to get your account started. Before you put money into a site, look into the history of the site. You may want check around with other players to make sure payments are made in a timely fashion. You can check the RGP, the Poker newsgroup( rec.gamling.poker) for recent posts about the site you are considering.
